Alternatives to Twitter

Pownce isn’t the only site offering to share snippets of text with friends. Miniblogging sites let you write extremely short entries via the web and cellphones, and some let you share media too. We tested 9 of them: Jaiku, Twitter, Tumblr, Moodmill, Pownce, Hictu, Facebook’s status updates and the spin-offs from Bebo and Xanga.
